Hello and welcome to Warrior Wednesday! Part of our mission here at Breast Cancer Comfort is to empower and uplift all women who are fighting, or who have fought, breast cancer. Every Wednesday we will be celebrating a new Warrior and sharing her story!
It only seemed fitting that the first Warrior we would celebrate would be Debi Cavolo – our very own founder and CEO. She inspires us here at BCC everyday, and we know her words below will inspire you, too!
“What is a ‘warrior’? This may be one of the hardest words to define. A warrior may be somebody who goes through a challenging event and remains positive throughout. Or, a warrior could be someone who goes through a difficult time in their life and comes through it screaming and kicking, and stronger than ever.
I have never thought of myself as a warrior. But I have thought of myself as a fighter, an advocate for all the other Warriors who struggle after the worst diagnosis a woman can receive: breast cancer.
After my mastectomy I realized that no one asked about the pain in my heart or the thoughts in my head. They only asked about the pain, asking for a number from 1 to 10. I knew I had to do something for all those women who may have felt like I did.
I never thought of myself as a warrior…but I think about all the women that we have given our comfort baskets to. 1,470 women have received them and I think they are the true warriors. So today is warrior Wednesday and I celebrate YOU! Stay strong and pay it forward.”
If you are a warrior please reach out to us to be featured on Warrior Wednesday: firstname.lastname@example.org! You can also reach out to nominate a warrior you love and want to celebrate!
